Tour of America Heads to Norfolk for a Unique Weekend of Wrestling FUN!
Ocean View Pier, VA- There are beach wrestling events, and there are beach wrestling X-travaganza! VAWA beach wrestling director Frank Lipoli believes everyone should have a parade, and he’s bringing his enthusiasm for “action-packed-action” to life in his home community of Ocean View.
The 1st Annual Joe Boone Beach Wrestling X-Travaganza (Aug. 25-26-27) will be the largest beach event in Virginia to date. Weekly match ups have been underway every Wednesday since June 21st at the Virginia Beach field house, and recently another offering of match ups has popped up on Mondays in Bockroe Beach.
The Joe Boone event will begin on Friday evening with weigh-ins and “open sand” from 6-8pm at the Ocean View Pier. Rudis will be the title sponsor for the kick-off social beginning at 8pm on the upper deck of the Ocean View Pier.
Saturday will be non-stop fun, with day-of weigh-ins 9:00-9:30 am followed by “Battle in the Sand Box” Opening Ceremonies at 10:30 am. From 9:00 am-1:00 pm there will be Bocce Ball, Corn hole, vendors, a kids bounce house, music, food, and FUN for all ages.
The Heavy Hitting Hammers wrestling club will be distributing FREE back-to-school supplies from 12:00 noon-2:00pm, and awards will be presented at the conclusion of wrestling action.
The fun continues into Sunday as 3-time state champion AJ Foreman will lead a beach workout at 9:00am, followed by a POSITIVE message from Pastor Jay from Crown Lyfe Ministries at 10:30am. Also on Sunday the Joe Boone Fishing Hook-UP Open will take place on the Ocean View Pier. This is an open fishing tournament that will last from 9:00am-3:00pm. Entry if $50 and the longest fish wins. Entry for both the wrestling tournament AND the fishing tournament is through trackwrestling.
The X-travaganza will be the eighth stop on the Tour of America and the final stop on the east coast this season. Remaining stops include the Biloxi Beach Sand Jam in Biloxi, Mississippi, plus the SoCal and NorCal Championships in October.
