US Beach Nationals Headlines Huge Month Ahead
A Beach Near You– Sometimes when a wave hits the beach, its a GOOD thing! Such is the case this August as a wave of beach wrestling events are washing ashore all across the United States.
Of course the feature event of the month is the 2026 US Beach Nationals in Huntington Beach, California.
This premier national event has drawn competitors from all across the nation looking to earn national team slots for the Beach Wrestling World Series finale in Greece as well as future World Series events. U20 athletes may still have an opportunity to fill any remaining slots for the 2026 U20 World Championships, slated for September 25 in Katerini, Greece.
Just a few short years ago, Huntington Beach may have been one of a handful of events in August. Now the calendar is overflowing with August beach event, with TWENTY events scattered over fourteen states!
Several other events have become Tour of America staples in August including: Midwest Beach Nationals at Lake of the Ozarks, MO, NorCal Championships in Pacifica, CA, Texas Beach Wrestling Open Championships in Corpus Christi, TX, the Kentucky State Championship Open in Louisville, KY and the Chicago Day at the Beach
A few newcomers have also joined this year’s tour in the month of August. They include: The Summer Beach Throw Down in Ilwaco, WA, as well as Glory in the Sand in Davenport, IA.
Several other non-TOA events have gained popularity very quickly, including the Texas Beach Nationals in Galveston, TX, WSWA Beach Throwdown in Medical Lake, WA, and the Oshkosh Wild Sand Slam in Oshkosh, WI.
In addition to domestic events, there are a number of international opportunities on tap for athletes of all ages this fall. U17 and U20 World Championships are coming up in August and September respectively, alongside the remaining two stops for the 2026 Beach Wrestling World Series. .
September also offers the Senior World Military Beach Wrestling Challenge in Lagos, Nigeria as well as the FISU World University Championships in Figueira da Foz, Portugal.
October will see USA Beach Wrestling taking part in the 5th annual Barbados Open Beach Wrestling Championships in both a dual team and individual format.
Finally, all eyes will shift to the Youth Olympic Games November 7-8 in Dakar, Senegal, where beach wrestling will be the featured style of wrestling for the entire youth Olympic games.
