Carolina Beach To Host Major Qualifying Event for Upcoming Beach Wrestling Season!
Carolina Beach, NC- Wrestlers of all ages will head to Carolina Beach this weekend for the sand, sun, and FUN that has become tradition at this first major beach wrestling event of the season!
This year’s event is expected to have an even higher level of excitement as athletes compete for both world teams as well as coveted spots in the 2026 Youth Olympics.
For the first time ever, USA Wrestling will offer a U15 division. While it is not an official qualifying event, participants in this division will be highly encouraged to also attend the 2026 U15 Beach Wrestling Pan American Championships in Mexico City, Mexico, on July 26.
U17 and U20 World Teams will be up for grabs, as each group can qualify three athletes per weight category. Team USA looks to field full lineups at the world championships later this fall in Baku, Azerbaijan and Katerini, Greece. Both teams are looking to contend for team titles at the championships this fall.
Carolina Beach is only the first opportunity for senior level athletes to qualify for the 2026 Beach Wrestling World Series. Wrestlers in the senior division will have the chance to visit familiar stops in Porec, Croatia and Katerini, Greece this season as well as new stops in Baku, Azerbajan, and Batumi, Georgia. Another exciting part of this years event will be the qualification for the 2026 Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, Senegal. The United States has received and allocation of three spots in the games for wrestling, with two of those up for grabs in Carolina Beach this weekend. This year’s event also features a very special pre-event training clinic with Team USA Head Beach Wrestling Coach Tim Box. Box was a highly successful senior level beach wrestling competitor, and has become one of the top coaches in the world for this emerging style. The clinic will also feature 3X World Champion Eliana Bommarito. Bommarito will share the techniques and tactics that have helped make her one of the most dominant beach wrestlers in the world.
