Irons Brings Home Caribbean Gold!

90KG Champion Earns Caribbean Respect Bridgetown, Barbados– Jabari Irons of the United States pushed 3X Pan-American Champion Yurieski Torreblanca of Cuba to the brink in the Grand Championship semi-finals, but Torreblanca  scored a late point that propelled him to victory, setting up a finals match with last year’s Barbados Open Grand Champion Charlie Bowing (80kg) of England. In the end Torreblanca showed why he is one of the top wrestlers in the world, winning 3-0 over Bolwing to take home the Grand Championship for this year’s Open. 70KG was won by home crowd favorite Kwami Inniss of Barbados won a very tough 70kg bracket by virtue of a spectacular three pointer against Shiaeine Blake of Jamaica. Biloxi Beach Sand Jam is Back for A Great Gulf Shore Time! Biloxi Beach, Mississippi- Beach Wrestling goes to the Gulf next weekend as the Biloxi Beach Sand Jam returns for its second season on the Tour of America! Great sand, delicious BBQ, and exciting beach wrestling action will be on the menu September 16th at Mississippi’s first USA event of the 2023-24 season! Last season’s event drew over fifty wrestlers from six states, including wrestlers from Florida, Alabama, Louisiana, Georgia, Mississippi, and Colorado. This year the venue has a new name (Kingjaks BBQ) but the great Gulf vibe will still be in full effect and the Tour of America makes its only stop in the deep south. Tour of America Heads to Norfolk for a Unique Weekend of Wrestling FUN! Ocean View Pier, VA- There are beach wrestling events, and there are beach wrestling X-travaganza! VAWA beach wrestling director Frank Lipoli believes everyone should have a parade, and he’s bringing his enthusiasm for “action-packed-action” to life in his home community of Ocean View. The 1st Annual Joe Boone Beach Wrestling X-Travaganza (Aug. 25-26-27) will be the largest beach event in Virginia to date. Weekly match ups have been underway every Wednesday since June 21st at the Virginia Beach field house, and recently another offering of match ups has popped up on Mondays in Bockroe Beach. From skateboarding to sand volleyball, the beautiful beaches of the nation’s largest state have always been a great place to launch a movement. Enter beach wrestling. This weekend the golden sands of the Golden State will host not one but two events. Saturday, August 19th Huntington Beach will welcome sand scrappers from across southern California.
