Beach Tournaments are COMING to a Beach NEAR YOU!! There’s growth, and then… there’s EXPLOSIVE growth! The Tour of America has helped create a hunger for beach wrestling events that is translating in to more events than ever popping up around the country! Numerous states are adding state championship events to their summer/fall schedules, including states like Virginia, California, Oregon, and many more. Cities like Chicago, and New York are finding spots for some sand to fly! And all across the heartland of America sand space is becoming wrestling space as more and more people are learning just how much FUN beach wrestling can be! World Beach Games are on the Line in Final Qualifier This story is from Gary Abbott at USA Wrestling– The final stop on the road to Bali for the 2023 ANOC World Beach Games is set for this weekend, and the stakes are high for the five U.S. athletes competing this weekend. The USA will field a small but experienced team for the second United World Wrestling Beach World Series event of 2023, set for Singapore, June 10-11. All five U.S. athletes competing in Singapore have wrestled in a number of Beach World Series events and are among those with world rankings at the Senior level in Beach Wrestling. Beach Wrestling Launching On VA Beaches!

Weekly Match-ups Will Lay Groundwork for Future Events Virginia Beach Field House, Virginia Beach- Beach wrestling is COMING to Hampton Roads and Virginia Beach in a big way! Beginning Thursday, June 8th and continuing each Thursday through the summer I-64 Wrestling/VAWA will sponsor “beach match-ups” for wrestlers of all ages. Walk up registration will begin at 5:30pm, with match ups getting under way by 6pm each evening and continuing until approximately 8:30pm. Beach wrestling is an emerging Olympic sport and is being touted as a possible addition to the 2028 Olympic program in Los Angeles. UWW has also expanded the Beach Wrestling World Series to include stops around the globe in 2023, and the style is a core discipline for the ANOC Beach Games, which take place this fall in Bali, Indonesia. International Team Takes Ultimate X 1 Title

Inaugural Dual Event Kicks Off Beach Nationals Weekend! Carolina Beach, NC- International athletes from Barbados and Jamaica banded together and scored victory in the first ever Ultimate X Dual competition. The format featured four athletes for each team, including an age group girl and boy, and 2 senior level athletes for each team. Wrestlers squared off in a best of three series with each other, with each point in competition being scored for their team, plus bonus points depending on the type of win. In the U15 Women’s match up Rebecca Williams of Barbados scored a 3-0 decision over Lena Underbakke of Ohio in round one, and then followed with a 5-0 victory in round two.
