USA Approves World Team Selection Criteria

How to Represent Team USA in this year’s International Beach Wrestling Events Colorado Springs, CO.- USA Wrestling’s board of directors have approved the selection criteria for this year’s international beach wrestling events. The board met during the recent U.S. Open to discuss the growth of beach wrestling and make provisions for world team selection. Here are the current procedures: 2024 BEACH WRESTLING TEAMS PROCEDURES  2024 U17 AND U20 BEACH WORLD TEAM SELECTION  The qualifying event for the 2024 U.S. Beach World Teams competing in the U17 and U20 Beach World  Championships will be the Carolina Beach Nationals in Carolina Beach, N.C., May 11, 2024.  There are up to three spots in each weight class for the USA team at the U17 Beach Worlds and the U20 Beach  Worlds.   The team selection priority will be the following for each event:  1.

USA Beach Wrestling Looks to send team to Rio! Botafogo Beach, Brazil– Are you in college? Would you like a wrestling reason to go to Rio de Janeiro? Well….. .HERE YOU GO! USA Beach Wrestling is looking for interested college aged wrestlers to attend the 2024 FISU World University Games and represent the United States in competition. Beach wrestling is now included alongside other sports including Beach Handball, Beach Soccer, Beach Volleyball, Beach Tennis, and Surfing. This week-long sports celebration will take place in early September. UWW Adds First Online Beach Wrestling Course

Americans Are Ready to Ride The Wave Of Beach Wrestling Popularity! CORSIER-SUR-VEVEY, Switzerland (April 24) — Beach Wrestling is the fastest-growing style in United World Wrestling.  Each year, more and more federations introduce the style and compete at the events.  As a result, UWW is launching the Introduction to Beach Wrestling course on the UWW Academy platform.  This course is designed to provide an overview of beach wrestling.  Topics include the benefits of beach wrestling, basic rules and scoring, differences between beach wrestling and the Olympic styles, how competitions are organized, how bouts are organized and conducted, and the Beach Wrestling World Series. North Carolina To Become First to Sanction Beach Wrestling as HS Sport!

NCHSAA Agrees to Pilot Beach Wrestling as Emerging Spring Sport For over a decade North Carolina has hosted the USA Beach Nationals in Carolina Beach, drawing wrestlers from across the country as well as international competitors. Lots of North Carolina kids have been showing up too, and now, the increased interest from schools across the state is leading to an exciting development. Beginning in 2025 in conjunction with NCHSAA realignment, the state has agreed to pilot Beach Wrestling as a spring sport for both men and women. Teams will consist of seven wrestlers for each gender. Weight classes will simply group two of the existing weight classes for men (ex. 106 and 113 would be combined), while the women would combine the existing twelve weights to make six weight classes, plus the addition of a 235+ category. Beach Wrestling Kicks Off on Both Coasts!

Both East and West Coast Host First Events of the ’24 Season Beach Wrestling is BACK, as the 2024 season kicked off Saturday with the 2nd Annual Atlantic Beach Championships in Atlantic Beach, NC. The event drew competitors from North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia, and featured a spectacular day of perfect weather and great beach wrestling action. First time participants were well represented, but there were also some “celebrity” sightings, including 2023 U17 World Champion Kennedie Snow, and 2023 World Team Member Jamel Johnson.
